Problem/Context

Many of the patterns used in Replacement projects lead to a transitional period where at least some user groups will use both the existing and the new system in parallel. In these cases users will appreciate any steps taken that make it easier for them to easily switch between systems.

Solution

Make it as easy and fast as possible to switch from the new system to the old one while preserving context.

Strengths

  • Easy to implement
  • Increases users willingness to work with the new system.

Examples

The new system includes a function that performs an automatic lookup in the legacy system of the customer being viewed.
